Straw Wall is an infill wall
system that can be used in a wide range of interior and
exterior applications. Straw Walls are made from
rice straw, 100% recycled steel mesh
and FSC-certified lumber. Using custom-designed production
machinery, Straw Wall sections are produced by compressing
straw between two sheets of metal mesh.
Steel ties protrude through the straw, connecting the
two sheets of steel mesh. The mesh is then fastened
inside a wood perimeter. The result is a sturdy, insulative
wall section that can be produced in various sizes, shapes and
thicknesses, according to customer specifications.
Sections can easily include electrical chases that
allow for simple and fast electrical installation. Straw
Walls can be finished with stucco, lime plaster, clay
plaster, or even sheetrock or conventional siding.
